Woven Scarf

Donated to Cultural Conversations by Rachel Sanson and Scott Burnett, who discovered the scarves during their work and travels in Cambodia.
A lightweight woven scarf for spring and autumn, with a naturally textured surface and a slightly crisp, dry feel.
The fabric has more structure than a soft cotton scarf while remaining light enough for transitional weather. Visible woven fibres, subtle stripes or tonal colour variations, and simple fringed edges give each piece a relaxed, tactile character.
Wear it loosely around the neck, drape it over the shoulders or use it as a light extra layer when the weather turns cool. The muted colour palette makes it easy to pair with everyday clothing.
Available in Soft Pink Stripe, Deep Red Brown and Olive Stripe.
These scarves were discovered by Rachel Sanson and Scott Burnett during their work and travels in Cambodia, and were later donated to Cultural Conversations.
They have now found a new purpose through Scarves for Stories, a Cultural Conversations initiative created to raise funds to buy children’s storybooks in a range of languages.
Inspired by the diversity of our local community, the project helps children and their families celebrate and preserve their mother tongue. It also creates opportunities for older children to lead storytime sessions for younger tamariki, sharing language, culture and stories across generations.
By choosing one of these scarves, you are giving a distinctive piece a new home while helping another story reach a child.
Each scarf has its own colour, stripe pattern, woven texture and finish.
Material & Texture
The exact fibre composition is unknown, as the scarves were donated without their original material information.
